Severe Weather Policies
In the event of rain or thunder
Camp K may relocate to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church for the safety of campers and staff. Families will be notified of any location change, and campers will be transported by bus to continue camp programming indoors with a modified schedule as needed. Pick-up will take place at the church at the regular camp dismissal time.
Extreme Heat Policy
The safety and wellbeing of campers and staff is a top priority at Camp K. In the event that temperatures reach 40°C or higher with the humidex, camp programming will be relocated indoors to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church for the day.
On hot days below this threshold, Camp K will implement additional heat safety measures throughout the day. These may include reducing high-energy activities, increasing access to shaded areas, scheduling additional hydration breaks, and incorporating more water-based games and activities to help campers stay cool and safe.
Medical Policies
Medication
All camper medications must be listed on registration medical forms prior to the start of camp. Medications are tracked through weekly staff records, and only trained senior staff are permitted to administer medication. All medication administration is carefully documented, and families will be contacted regarding any concerns or discrepancies.
Allergies
Camp K takes severe allergies and anaphylaxis seriously. Families are required to provide allergy and emergency information during registration, and staff are trained to recognize allergic reactions and respond quickly. EpiPens are kept accessible at all times, and emergency services will be contacted immediately in the event of a serious allergic reaction.
Inclusivity and Anti-Bullying Policies
Anti-Bullying Policy
Camp K is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for all campers and staff. Bullying of any kind, including physical, verbal, social, or online bullying, is not tolerated. Staff are trained to recognize and respond to bullying behaviours quickly and appropriately to help ensure every camper feels safe, included, and valued throughout their camp experience.
If bullying concerns arise, Camp K staff and directors will work with campers and families to address the behaviour through conversations, support, and appropriate intervention. In situations where bullying behaviour continues or involves severe misconduct, campers may be sent home and may not be permitted to return to camp.
Inclusivity Policy
At Camp K, we believe every camper deserves a welcoming and supportive environment where they can be themselves. We are committed to fostering a camp community that celebrates diversity, encourages respect, and promotes inclusion for campers of all backgrounds, abilities, identities, and experiences.
LGBTQ+ Inclusion
Camp K is proud to support LGBTQ+ campers, families, and staff. We are committed to creating an affirming environment where all individuals feel respected, safe, and included. Staff receive training on inclusive practices, and we strive to ensure that camp spaces, programming, and interactions reflect our commitment to dignity, belonging, and acceptance for all.
